Special Courses

Learn directly from Amazon maestros and maestras.

The Ayahuasca Foundation seeks to facilitate the mysterious process of spiritual students finding their paths. In turn, we benefit the teachers who seek their students, and the science of plant spirit medicine benefits from another potential healer to preserve its wisdom. The courses offered here are attempts to provide an honest introduction into the ancient traditions of curanderismo. It is a lifetime commitment, and even the wisest maestros admit they are still students. It is our hope that perhaps after attending a seminar, you will decide to do an initiation course, after which you’ll make the commitment to do an apprenticeship, and from there, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a healer.

Ayahuasca Initiation
This amazing course offers students the chance to experience four different styles of curanderismo by studying with four different healers. Different backgrounds, different traditions, yet based in the same roots, the science of spirit. Observe the similarities and find what fits your personality. Spend nine days at the camp of each curandero and curandera, where you will attend ceremonies, follow plant diets, and learn specific rituals, traditions, and knowledge of the ancient science of plant spirit medicine. Taste the life of a true curandero, understand the discipline and sacrifice, and hopefully make a connection with a future teacher.

Ayahuasca Apprenticeship
This is for people who have already been introduced to ayahuasca and curanderismo, and who are ready to make a long-term commitment to study with a teacher in the Amazon. What we do is facilitate the communication and preparation of your journey. We make sure you arrive safely and meet with the right people and that you are prepared. You can always use the Foundation as an emergency contact, and we will know where you are and how you can be reached if necessary.

Ayahuasca Curandero Seminar
The Curandero Seminar is basically a condensed version of the Initiation Course. Five authentic curanderos from the Amazon Rainforest lead workshops each day, and hold three ceremonies each over the course of the 8-day seminar. Various aspects of curanderismo are discussed, and presentations from local experts in the field of natural medicine are included as well as an intimate discussion with a local indigenous tribe. It is a comprehensive look at the ayahuasca tradition and the many facets of plant spirit medicine.
The workshops encourage participation and allow for deep discussions. It is rare to be able to have so much time with a true curandero, a maestro, and getting to know the healers for who they are as people is an amazing experience. Incredible stories explaining how healing songs were learned, or what treatments healed which patients, how they chose the healing path, and some of the most unbelievable experiences will be told throughout the seminar by these special men and women, dons and donas.
The ceremonies give participants the chance to see for themselves what all the stories are about in authentic ayahuasca ceremonies, held out at various camps, and at the seminar site as well. Participants choose whether to venture into the jungle to attend each of the three ceremonies, or stay on-site and drink with a curandero right there. Ceremonies will be translated assisted by the seminar facilitators.
Seminar facilitators will be translating all of the material during the presentations, workshops and ceremonies. Each facilitator is a student of their particular curandero, and will be able to offer their own perspective, stories, and advice throughout the eight day seminar. Facilitators will lead groups to the ceremony locations as well.
Because there is a limited capacity of only 65 people, each workshop has 13 people, and ceremonies have between 12 and 15 on average. Everyone is together for the presentations, discussions, and meals, but each day, new groups are formed for the workshops, allowing for each person to get a chance to meet every other person at the seminar.
Participants take home many important items from the Seminar like their healing tool, the chakapa, mapacho cigarettes and tobacco, bottles of perfumes, plant remedies, and other unique and special gifts. Backpacks are provided to carry the many items attendees recieve, in addition to the comprehensive course material.

Online Opportunities
The Ayahuasca Foundation will also provide podcast interviews of curanderos, students, and people doing work with medicinal plants and ayahuasca. Learn a great deal before making the journey to experience for yourself the wonders of ayahuasca and the spiritual dimensions.
Many people want to know how they can help, what they can do to make this project better, and one of the things that we need is for people to simply let us know where the good information is, where are your online sources, so that we might let others know about them. Because we seek to help every organization, and most importantly every person who seeks it, we desire to leave no one out, and to provide the most help possible in every way imaginable. We wish to share important information that the world needs to hear.
